We help our Teammates when they need help most
Michigan Football tradition is built on teamwork created from the selfless dedication of every player and coach. It’s what Michigan Football asks of every Michigan Man.
FAM, the Football Alumni of Michigan, carries on that tradition and is an extension of the Team you were part of during your days at Michigan.
Within FAM there is TAP, the Teammates Assistance Program. TAP is built on teamwork, too. Being part of a team means looking after one another, and helping one another when we need help most.
That’s why TAP and the TAP Network exist.
The TAP Network
TAP asks you to join the TAP Network. As a member, you’ll be one of the people we contact when one of our teammates needs help, the kind of help you can provide.
The TAP Network is not limited to former players and coaches. Anyone can be a TAP Network member. We’re looking for people with a wide range of knowledge, abilities, and talents, from various disciplines, including:
- Medical
- Dental
- Mental health
- Social services
- Physical therapy
- Transportation
- Housing
- Employment
- Wellness checks
Growing our TAP Network by adding caring people with diverse abilities in various geographic locations will help keep our Michigan Brothers strong. To quote Kipling (a Lloyd Carr favorite), “For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack.”

TAP provides confidential assistance and support to eligible FAM members as a result of medical, financial, or mental health conditions.

The TAP Fund
Your fully tax-deductible donations to the TAP Fund help us keep the Michigan Football Alumni healthy and strong.
The TAP Fund provides valuable latitude for how we support Teammates in need. Always, our first option is to deliver assistance via the TAP Network. When such an option isn’t available, direct and indirect financial support is considered.
If you wish to designate your donation for a particular purpose, please indicate that purpose in the comments. All other donations will go toward helping Teammates in need.
